RIP Nancy..

New Zealand-born World War II heroine Nancy Wake has died in London, aged 98.

I wrote a post last year on the amazing Nancy here http://welliusedtobealady.blogspot.com/2009/12/allo-allo.html
She was the most decorated New Zealand service woman.
And man was she gorgeous!

Rest in Peace Nancy.
My mission – to find a biography about her.

Laziness be gone

As you know this blog began with my quest to dress vintage 24/7.

Lately I have not lived up to this lofty ideal, unless I am swing dancing. I think swing dancing has filled that vintage yearning quite nicely.
However I am going to have to revisit at least part of my committment to the vintage look.

I have begun a business providing vintage hair and makeup parties and retailing the wonderful Besame cosmetics.
This means that I am going to be my own advertisement – I can no longer get away with straight hair and unruly eyebrows. If I’m holding myself up to be an “expert” in the vintage look, then I’m going to have to walk the walk.
Today it dawned on me…

I am going to have to get up an hour early again.
I am doing a party tonight so had to curl my hair. Getting up at my normal time meant I drove to work with hot rollers in my hair.
Which was fine but there was a nasty moment when I thought the car may overheat, and i got very strange looks at intersections.

So I will try my best, I will learn to love my pillow rollers. I will carry a lipbrush wherever I go, and I will never be seen in trackpants.

sigh…
